解説：
1998年に記載されたPseudochactas ovchinnikoviから提唱された科。体長20～40mm。中央アジアの種は標高1,000m程度の比較的乾燥した場所に生息している一方、東南アジアの種は洞窟内の湿潤な環境と、相反する生息地をもっています。ソウゲンサソリ科は、アゴハリサソリ科 (Chaerilidae) やキョクトウサソリ科 (Buthidae) と同じく、原始的な分類群と考えられています。
