解説：
インド南西部のケーララ州で発見された新種のRugodentus keralaensisから提唱された科。R. keralaensisは触肢の特徴がほかのコガネサソリ科とは異なるとされ、コガネサソリ科の亜科に分類されましたが、後にほかのコガネサソリ上科 (フタトゲサソリ科、ウスイロサソリ科など) とも異なるとされ、独立した科として提唱されました。Rugodentusはほかに種がいないため、現在、本科は1属1種からなります。
