解説：
オーストラリアにのみ分布する種からなる分類群。Urodacusはオーストラリアで最も多様化したサソリと言われており、地中に深い巣穴をつくることが知られています。一方、Aops oncodactylusは洞窟内部に生息する種です。
本科は、元々コガネサソリ科 (Scorpionidae) の中に含められていましたが、2000年に科に格上げされました。現在では、本科を再びコガネサソリ科内に含める分類もあります。
