解説：
アメリカ南西部からメキシコ西部の乾燥した地域に分布する分類群。ホラアナサソリ科 (Troglotayosicidae) やTyphlochactidaeのサソリと近縁と考えられ、以前は本科に含められていました。しかし、Superstitionia以外のサソリは全て洞窟性の特徴をもち、形態的特徴が異なっていることから、ホラアナサソリ科やTyphlochactidaeは独立した科として移され、現在、本科は1属1種となっています。
